Pathways Wrap Round 26: Flegg Qualify for Finals

It was a fast and furious end to the NSW Cup season for the Bulldogs, tussling it out in a 28-42 defeat to the ladder-leading Penrith Panthers at Parker Street Reserve. 

The Blue and Whites took a slender 16-8 lead thanks to a double to Kade Dykes and a four-pointer to Sosaia Alatini. 

But the Panthers showed why they claimed the 2026 Minor Premiership, running in five tries in 20 minutes to claim a big lead.

The never-say-die attitude of the Bulldogs shone through the final ten minutes, with Jack Underhill crashing over before Dykes claimed his third to bring the scoreline to within ten.

However, the home side put the icing on the cake with a try in the 78th minute, with the Bulldogs' season coming to a close with a 7th-placed finish.

NSW Women's Premiership: Bulldogs 14 def by Tigers 30

It was another bravely fought match for the Bulldogs in the NSW Women's Premiership season, with their season coming to a close against the Wests Tigers at Lidcombe Oval. 

The hosts got out to a 12-nil lead, before Elizabeth MacGregor touched down to bring the halftime scoreline to 12-4. 

While the Tigers crossed again to extend their lead, the Bulldogs struck back in quick succession through Riley Fruean-Otineru and Moana Courtenay, closing the gap to a single try with 20 remaining.

But the Tigers pounced twice to secure the victory, with the Bulldogs finishing their season in 12th place.

Jersey Flegg Cup: Bulldogs 28 def by 42 Panthers

Against the same opponent at the same venue, the Bulldogs Jersey Flegg Cup match also ended in a 42-28 defeat over the weekend. 

The sides traded early blows, with Latrell Fing crossing in the seventh minute, before Lachlan Mifusd (24th) and Bronson Reuben (32nd) added their names to the scoresheet for a tense 18-all scoreline at the break.

It was another seesawing start to the second half, with the hosts scoring before Kaawyn Patterson scored for the Blue and Whites, before Penrith took the ascendency with fifteen on the clock.

Not to be deterred, Fing scored his second with minutes remaining, but the comeback fell short with the conversion waved away, with Penrith touching down soon after to seal the result. 

The Bulldogs will have their chance at redemption this week at St George Venues Jubilee Stadium in Kogarah when they play the Panthers for a chance to play the Minor Premiers, St George Illawarra. 

Ron Massey Cup: Bulldogs 16 def by Hawks 20

It was a heartbreaking end to the Bulldogs' run in the Ron Massey Cup finals series, defeated 20-16 against the Ryde-Eastwood Hawks at Kogarah on Saturday afternoon.

The Blue and Whites clawed their way back from an early 12-nil deficit to score through Jope Raque (24th minute) and Corey Ackers (28th minute), before the Hawks regained the lead for a 16-10 scoreline at the break.

Neither side was able to trouble the scoreline in the first half hour of the second half, with Rauqe scoring his second to bring the difference to just two points.

But the Hawks claimed the match just moments later, with the Bulldogs unable to reply in the final ten minutes.
