Pathways Wrap Round 18: Bulldogs Pipped in Close Contests

It was a tough weekend for the NSW Women's Premiership and Ron Massey Cup sides, who were both pipped in their matches by tight margins.

Meanwhile, the NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg Cup sides enjoyed a well-deserved bye in Round 18.

NSW Women's Premiership: Bulldogs 18 def by Magpies 26

It was a heartbreaking defeat for the Bulldogs NSW Women's Premiership side, unable to claim a result in a 26-18 loss to Wentworthville at Ringrose Park in their Round 4 match up.

Chasing their first win of the season, the Blue and Whites were gutsy in the first half, trailing by just two points with tries to Alleya Scrivens and Shanthie Lui.

The side clicked into gear in the early stages of the second stanza, with Simina Lokotui and Charlotte Eather both crossing in a matter of minutes and giving the Bulldogs a handy 18-10 lead.

Unfortunately, ill-discipline in the latter stages handed the Magpies a chance to swoop in with a two further tries, with the victory going to the hosts in an eight-point defeat.

Ron Massey Cup: Bulldogs 26 def by Hawks 28

It was too little too late for the Ron Massey Cup side as a late surge failed to garner a victory as they fell 26-28 against the Ryde-Eastwood Hawks at Hammondville Oval in their Round 13 clash.

After trailing early, the Bulldogs struck back through Daniel O'Donnell, before Damon Humphrys scored a converted try of his own along with a penalty goal for a 24-14 halftime score at the break.

The Hawks extended further into the second stanza for a 28-14 lead going into the final ten minutes, before Jope Rauqe and Elsiyah Laumatia crossed to make it a two-point game with just five on the clock.

However, the clock beat the Bulldogs in their late scramble to gain points, settling for a two-point defeat despite scoring two less tries than their opponents.
