Hayes Takes Home Top Gong in Senior Representatives Awards

A host of up-and-coming players took home the Player of the Year Awards for the Club’s Senior Representative sides: the NSW Cup, Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership, Jersey Flegg Cup and Ron Massey Cup.

Terry Lamb Medal – Bulldogs 2024 NSW Cup Player of the Year: Harry Hayes

Young gun Harry Hayes has claimed the 2024 Terry Lamb Medal - NSW Cup Player of the Year, following a strong display of appearances that resulted in his elevation to make an NRL debut.

In the NSW Cup, Hayes dominated in the second row across 15 matches – mostly 80-minute performances - scoring four tries, making 18 tackle breaks and five linebreaks while racking up an impressive 91.6% tackle efficiency in defence.

Hayes, the grandson of former Bulldog Merv Hicks, has made a transition from the backline to the forward pack in recent years, which has culminated in him solidifying a spot on the bench in the NRL.

Since marking his debut in Round 20 of the NRL season, he has become a mainstay for the side, adding serious impact off the bench in the charge towards the Club’s first finals appearance since 2016.

"It's pretty cool I didn't really expect it after playing grade and not playing as many Cup games," Hayes admitted.

"My goal each week was to try and make a difference, and it's helped a lot going into the NRL.

"It's helped me get used to the speed and getting used to playing with the boys. A lot of them I've never played with.

"It's a real honour."

2024 Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership Player of the Year: Latisha Smythe

Latisha Smythe has claimed the Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership Player of the Year Award for a scintillating season in 2024.

A member of the Club’s Junior Representative Programs since the age of 16, Smythe has accelerated through the Bulldogs’ ranks at a meteoric rate.

The tough forward has impressed throughout the year in the Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership as the side’s co-captain, with her performances in the middle of the field rewarded with an NRLW contract for 2025.

"It's unreal, I can't believe it. I'm still tripping out saying it and I can't explain it.

"We've had some challenges and some bumps in the road but I feel like we're coming together and we're connecting better each week

"We have an important game coming up and we're hoping to play some finals footy."

Hazem El Masri Medal – Bulldogs 2024 Jersey Flegg Cup Player of the Year: Rueben Moyle

Rueben Moyle has claimed the Hazem El Masri Medal as the 2024 Jersey Flegg Cup Player of the Year.

The talented hooker has been instrumental in the Jersey Flegg Cup side’s third-place finish, scoring four tries and leading through the middle of the field.

Moyle’s form saw him graduate to NSW Cup in Round 11, playing seven matches from the interchange bench, while scoring a try on debut.

He has since returned to the Jersey Flegg Cup for the side’s semi-final campaign as they look to defend their crown, and touched on the camaraderie of the side.

"We had a really hard pre-season under Jacko [Josh Jackson] and really got around each other," Moyle said.

"We've had our ups and downs - a lot of injuries - but we've had that 'next man up' mentality.

"I'm a bit taken back by getting this Award. It could have gone to anyone but it's a real honour."

2024 Ron Massey Cup Player of the Year: Jirah Momoisea

Forward Jirah Momoisea has claimed the 2024 Ron Massey Cup Player of the Year award.

In his first season at the Club, Momoisea was a stand-out for the Bulldogs, forcing his way into the starting forward pack after beginning the season on the interchange bench.

Momoisea also took part in four NSW Cup matches, holding his own from the interchange bench, including the 40-30 win against Blacktown in Round 26.
