The Cronulla Sharks have won a low-scoring tight contest at Hammondville Oval, defeating the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs 14-8.

The Sharks wasted no time to trouble the scorekeeper when back-rower Kennedy Cherrington crossed within four minutes.

Bulldogs superstar Maddison Weatherall continued the flavour of forwards scoring when she crashed over, but the Sharks remained ahead by two points as the try could not be converted.

That excitement for the Bulldogs was short lived when Sharks centre Talei Holmes scored and they extended their lead to 14 when the other centre Jamie-Anne Wright scored. It seemed as though the Sharks would kick on with their lead but the Bulldogs defence for the rest of the game was simply outside.

Unfortunately for the Bulldogs they only scored one more try in the game and the Sharks won what was an incredibly tough game.
