Round 26, 2011 v Raiders: Bobcat goes out with a bang
The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs sent long-standing skipper Andrew Ryan out with a bang in his final home game for the Club against the Canberra Raiders at ANZ Stadium on Sunday September 4, 2011.
Ryan played 218 NRL matches for the Bulldog during his nine year career with the club, with his list of achievements including captaining the Bulldogs to the 2004 Premiership, 11 Test appearances for the Kangaroos, 12 State of Origin matches for NSW, and six Country Origin jerseys.
In team news – Kris Keating started at five-eighth, replacing the injured Joel Romelo and Ben Roberts came into the side on the interchange bench.
The Raiders led 12-8 at the break, but four tries to Ben Barba, two to Josh Morris and one from the skipper secured a 36-22 victory in a match that almost got away from the Bulldogs with the Raiders rallying twice to keep the scores close.
Ryan celebrated his try by running for a bobcat parked on the sideline, but almost injured himself in the process as he stumbled over a railing.
The Bulldogs took to the field in a one-off commemorative jersey to celebrate the impending launch of STAR WARS: The Complete Saga on Blu-ray Disc this September 14.
