Young Dogs' Learn Importance Of Nutrition

Last weekend the 2018 Jersey Flegg squad participated in a workshop about Nutrition and the importance of Diet in optimising sporting performance. The workshop was held at Belmore Sports Ground, presented by club dietician Ryan Tam.

Ryan took the players through the different types of food sources and the benefits these have on the body. He had the players discussing their typical daily food intakes and compared them with one another.

The workshop then looked at selecting specific dietary strategies appropriate to the players, and creating an eating plan which satisfies the players nutritional needs and requirements. This involved the players selecting different food options and alternatives to consume throughout the day for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks.

To follow up on this workshop, the players were given a set of videos and questions to answer through their online learning platform Velpic.

The knowledge learnt in this workshop will help the boys complete a module of the Certificate 3 in Sport (Career Orientated Participation) that Jersey Flegg players will be working on throughout the year.
