New recruit Rhyse Martin chats with bulldogs.com.au about the move to Belmore, the pre-season and the Bulldogs forward pack.

How have you found a pre-season under Des Hasler?

It’s been good. I have learnt a lot over the past six weeks. It’s been a change from what I have been doing over the last couple of years, but the group of players we have here have made it really enjoyable. I’m loving it.

Why did you join the Bulldogs?

I see it as a new challenge for myself and I thought it would be a great opportunity to work with Des and progress my football.

Was playing with the forward pack at the Bulldogs a crucial part in your decision to move?

It’s been a couple of years since I played with a forward pack this size, so it might make my job a little bit easier. I have been trying to learn as much as I can from Josh Jackson to better myself. To play with this forward pack was a huge decision to come here.

What does Des expect from you?

Des has expected a lot from me over the summer. There are a few things he has wanted me to work on. He in particular has wanted me to focus on leg speed and finding my front a lot more. He has wanted me to show a lot more self-belief, which is a focus of mine. It’s about believing in myself that I can play consistently every week.
