State of Origin Game I debutant Trent Hodkinson says while he is happy to have one Origin under his belt he will be looking to take his game to another level in the crucial Game Two fixture as the Blues look to wrap up a series win for the first time since 2005.
"Naturally [I feel] a bit more comfortable having one game under my belt," the NSW halfback told media after the side's first training session of the Origin II camp in Coffs Harbour on Wednesday.
"But in saying that I've got to get that out of my head and we do as a team as well because it's a whole new ball game for Game Two."
Hodkinson had a solid first-up outing, making 20 tackles with just one miss and taking on the majority of kicking duties in an error-free performance (unless you count the perplexing knock-on ruling against him late in the game when Queensland fullback Billy Slater kicked the ball into Hodkinson's shoulder from close range with the ball then travelling backwards).
However a couple of cross-field kicks didn't quite find their mark and the side as a whole struggled to get out of their own end throughout the second half, leaving plenty of room for improvement.
Hodkinson said while it was good to be one nil up it was important to remember the series was still a long way from being won.
"Queensland are going to come down desperate for a win to keep the series alive so we've going to have to forget about Game One and focus on a new beginning in Game Two," he said.
"Personally I want to go to the next level – debut game, I was happy to get through that and stoked to get the win but there's things I've got to work on in attack and my kicking game. I want to take a few things to the next level."
Hodkinson said while Blues coach Laurie Daley had thrown himself and Bulldogs halves partner Josh Reynolds into the deep end ahead of Game One, getting them to run the team's video sessions, it meant they were now able to pick up where they left off.
"We had a video session this morning and we're all on the same page now. We had a session out there which looked sharp and [the team is] very confident," he said.
