Bulldogs head coach Des Hasler will this week have to head back to the drawing board after Halfback Trent Hodkinson and Five-Eighth Josh Reynolds have been selected to represent the NSW Blues in Origin Game One at Suncorp Stadium.
After steering the Bulldogs to seven straight wins and a spot at the top of the NRL ladder, and personally playing a part in all three golden point wins against the Roosters, Warriors and Rabbitohs; Hodkinson and Reynolds will have to watch on this Friday night as the Bulldogs try to take down defending premiers the Roosters for a second time in 2014.
The Bulldogs are blessed with some depth in 2014 with the 2013 World Cup giving the chance for the Bulldogs youth stars to step up alongside our NRL squad in the off season.
One front runner for a spot in the halves is Moses Mbye, who has proven he has what it takes to play NRL footy.
Moses made his NRL debut against the Knights in Round eight and showed some very promising signs.
Other options Des may look to consider would be to shift Chase Stanley into Five-Eight and bring Corey Thompson into side.
Reni Maitua is this week’s dark horse with T-Rex being picked also in Origin 1.
