Last year’s NYC Preliminary finalists Canterbury Bulldogs take on the Cronulla Sharks this Monday night.

The Bulldogs had a disappointing second half against the Broncos last week, eventually going down 30-24, and coach Andy Patmore will be looking for more consistency across the 80 minutes.

New Dogs NYC captain and second rower Adam Elliott believes it’s still early rounds and his side had enough opportunities to win the game but just couldn’t get away with the 2 points.

“We had 12 incompleted sets, which you just can’t have, that’s the main focus that we got out of the first week. We just really need to get in to the grind and beat teams like that.”

Canterbury will be looking for a fast turn around, and their captain assures fans the team will be ready to go come Monday.

“A couple of the boys pulled up a little bit sore, but apart from that there hasn’t been any injuries or anything which is good. We’ve had the full team out at training on the field which is really good for our preparation leading into Monday.”

The Sharks recorded an emphatic 50-22 victory over the Titans in Round 1 but new Cronulla NYC coach David Howlett isn’t getting carried away.

“It was pleasing to see the boys lay on some points but there are plenty of areas we need to improve on, especially in defence. It’s very much a work in progress and we’re not getting ahead of ourselves, that’s for sure,” said Howlett.
