Sterling and Mortimer. Two men, both from Wagga Wagga, who fought over the Kangaroos halfback position in the 1980’s and both legends for the Eels and Bulldogs respectively, have come together to urge anybody who claims they are a fan of their Club, to prove their support and show the type of passion they did on the field, by becoming loyal Members.
Both men demand success, with Mortimer winning premierships as part of the Bulldogs side in 1980, 1884, 1985 and 1988; and Sterling winning premierships with the Eels in 1981, 1982, 1983, 1986.
Both believe their Club has enough true fans, to become Members and win the #raceto20k.
The Showdown is certainly heating up between with the Eels still holding a narrow lead as both Clubs inch closer to 20k!
The major bet of the #raceto20k is that the first Club to 15,000 Members gets to fly their flag at their opponent’s headquarters.
Both Clubs are getting close to this mark and neither Sterling or Mortimer would like to see their rival’s flag flying high. “We’ve got to turn the fair-weathered supporters into committed Members” Mortimer said.
