HOLDEN CUP RD20

The Bulldogs Holden Cup team are in a good position after a bye and with a great performance against the Storm in Round 18 it will be about continuing that momentum this week.

It was an outstanding performancewe played some great footyits a credit to the boys, said Andy Patmore.

They take on the 13th place Parramatta Eels and although they do sit towards the bottom of the table, Coach Andy Patmore knows they will be up for the game, even though the Dogs did beat them in Round two of the season.

They have big strong forwards who work to get a quick play the ball and do have an offload in their gamethese are aspects of their game we will need to stop, said Patmore.

It will be a huge game for the young Bulldogs side, because of the momentum they built over the last few weeks, as well as the rivalry the two clubs share.

You can easily get caught up in the hype surrounding the two sides, as well as not preparing as best as you can, because your opposition is sitting well below you on the table, but for the Dogs they must nail there preparation and really focus on their own performance on Friday night.

We need to focus on just continuing the good momentum we have, said Patmore.

If the Dogs are to get the win on Friday night, one key area in which they will need to be good in is completion rates. It is a stat they have been really good in over the last few weeks and one in which the side has been working hard. Having good completion rates enables you to build pressure and take control of the game.

We know if we can control this area of our game, it certainly adds to our game to enable us to build pressure, said Patmore.

Its a great challenge for the Holden Cup team this week and with an opportunity to cement a top four position, I dont see any reason why they cant go out there and produce the type of footy we have come to see them play.

A win will certainly help their cause, as they look towards September.
