Fullback Ben Barba has today been charged by the NRL Match Review Committee with Grade 1 Dangerous Contact Unnecessary Use of Knees.
The incident, which occurred in the 37th minute on Dragons five-eighth Jamie Soward, will see Barba escape from missing any matches if he chooses to take the early plea. If he chooses to fight the charge, the 23-year-old will be facing a one-week suspension if he loses.
If he takes the early plea, Barba will be available for selection this week for the Bulldogs clash against the Cowboys on Saturday night at 1300Smiles Stadium in Townsville.
Holden Cup player Robbie Kamoto was also charged by the Match Review Committee in the 58th minute of play for Dangerous Contact but will also escape suspension if he chooses to take the early guilty plea.
