Craig Garvey catches up with bulldogs.com.au to discuss his selection in the clubs Auckland Nines side and his call up to the 2016 Indigenous All Stars side.
Garvey was added to the Indigenous side alongside Jamie Soward and Edrick Lee after the withdrawal of Johnathan Thurston, Blake Ferguson and Nathan Peats.
The new recruit to the Bulldogs is honoured to be called up into the side.
“I’m honoured to be a part of the team,” said Garvey.
“Being able to represent my family will be good, but I’m just proud to be there.”
The former St George Illwarra Dragons number nine was also included in the Bulldogs Auckland Nines squad and after a tough pre-season, being able to represent the club for the first time in 2016 is what the La Parouse junior is excited for.
“When Dessie told me I was very excited.
“It’s been a long pre-season and I’m just excited to get the jersey on and see how it feels with the big boys around me.”
Garvey joins the club on a two year deal looking for a fresh start and while many will say the pre-season has been tough, the 22 year old has thoroughly enjoyed the summer under Des.
“I have loved it and really enjoyed it.
“It’s been a tough one, but it has been one of the more enjoyable pre-seasons I have had.
“It’s a new club, a fresh start and a real credit to how much everyone puts in at this club from the players to the training staff and the coaches.
“I really appreciate being given this opportunity to be with the Bulldogs.”
