Bulldogs Club Round: Celebrating the 'Club For All'

As the Bulldogs ready to take on the Newcastle Knights this Sunday, the Club is also preparing to host a very special celebration in Club Round.

Club Round is a special round that celebrates the Bulldogs as more than just a team; it's a unifying force that embraces every facet of the game, from grassroots, junior rugby league to junior and senior representative competitions through to the elite NRL and our future NRLW sides.

At Club Round, we honour the rich history and future promise of the Bulldogs, touching every corner of our community. It celebrates our love for rugby league and the Bulldogs, from the bustling fields of the junior league where lifelong friendships and memories are built, to the heights of 8 NRL Premierships glory. Our Club unites and inspires and is truly a Club For All.

Bulldogs Junior League

The Canterbury-Bankstown District Junior League (CBDRL) covers a rich and diverse area from Moorebank to Clemton Park in the west and from Chester Hill and Berala in the North to the George's River in the south.

Established in 1921, the District has had some 51 clubs over its 102 seasons but since 2010 is now comprised of 12 stable clubs that make up the Bulldogs junior league. The culturally rich demographics of the area mean that the players come from many different cultures, backgrounds and religions, all united by their love of Rugby League. As the saying goes, 'it takes a village', the junior league relies heavily on a team of volunteers who give up many hours to provide their club's administration, coaching, trainers, and management for their participants and community - these volunteers number approximately 900.

In Round 7, not only do we celebrate our 12 junior league clubs, we thank our volunteers who help make these clubs as special as they are and with just under two weeks to go until the season kicks off, we remind everyone that junior league is a great way for young families to enjoy the game, and for children to play sport, build confidence, and develop essential teamwork and social skills, all while having fun.

The Bulldogs Academy

The Bulldogs Academy encapsulates all of our programs and development squads from our junior league to our local junior and senior representative teams, and through to our satellite programs and holiday clinics across Greater Northern NSW, the NSW North Coast, QLD, Auckland and Christchurch, New Zealand.

Our Academy exists to foster the next generation of Bulldogs players and through our development system, we offer players the opportunity to work hard and become the best version of themselves both on and off the field.

This Club Round, we celebrate the Bulldogs' unique approach as a Family Club and a 'Club for All'.

After winning the NSWRL Flowers Memorial Pennant in 2023 (the Club Championship Award) for the most aggregate points across all representative divisions, the Bulldogs junior representative teams have continued to excel in 2024.

This year, the Club achieved two Minor Premierships in the Lisa Fiaola Cup (Under 17 females) and Harold Matthews Cup (Under 16 males) competitions. The Club's under 19 programs also excelled with the Tarsha Gale Cup (females) and SG Ball Cup (males) squads achieving 2nd and 4th on their respective ladders at the end of their regular seasons.

Each team has now succeeded to the Semi-Finals, set to play this Saturday the 20th of April:

Harold Matthews Cup Semi-Final

SG Ball Cup Semi-Final

Lisa Fiaola Cup Semi-Final

Tarsha Gale Cup Semi-Final

Across senior competitions, most seasons are underway with the exception of the Harvey Norman Women's Premiership season which will kick off in July, alongside the NRLW.

Currently, the Bulldogs sit in sixth position in the Ron Massey and Knock On Effect NSW Cups, and second in the Jersey Flegg Cup (defending Premiers).

The Bulldogs NSW Cup squad will play as the curtain raiser to this Sunday's NRL Premiership clash with the Knights at Accor Stadium.

NRL Premiership

Naturally, the draw card for Club Round is the NRL Premiership clash with the Bulldogs set to tackle the Newcastle Knights this Sunday at Accor Stadium.

Both the Bulldogs and Knights head into their Round 7 clash thinking what could have been after going down in two-point nail-biters last week.

Sitting on two wins each and chasing a third, this weekend's battle at Accor Stadium is shaping up to be a fierce one.
