Head Coach Des Hasler has today spoken with the media and given his opinion on the latest issues bringing headlines to the game.
South Sydney's Issac Luke, Manly star Jorge Taufua and Sydney Roosters back-rower Aidan Guerra were all been found not guilty of shoulder charges by the NRL judiciary after they
were all charged by the match review committee following their team’s wins in round 23.
While the NRL have made the shoulder charge illegal, the rules prior to the change allowed - offenders to escape a charge if there was "no forceful movement of the head or neck", but it was since updated to - any player who commits a shoulder charge using force will be automatically charged by the Match Review Committee.
The three clubs certainly rolled the dice after the NRL had made changes to the rule and they got the outcome they wanted, but it still creates some confusion.
“If you think you can go there and get them off, good luck to you,” said Hasler.
“Those clubs rolled that dice, but it now makes each shoulder charge case, a case on its own.”
