Josh Jackson today spoke with the media and addressed what has changed over the last few weeks, the team performances and what the turning point was.
The Bulldogs sit in eighth position on the NRL ladder with 24 points alongside the Dragons and only two points clear of the Warriors and the Sea Eagles who sit in ninth and tenth.
With such congestion at the bottom of the eight, Jackson is aware of the Bulldogs situation and what needs to happen.
“It’s pretty tight around the eight at the moment and every game moving forward is pretty important.
“If we play like we did on the weekend, we give ourselves every opportunity to get the two points this week.”
Three of the Bulldogs 10 wins this year have been against top eight teams and while many outsiders may see this as a concern for the Bulldogs, the representative star thinks otherwise.
“You take a lot of confidence from a win like the one on the weekend and especially how we played.
“The Roosters game we were pretty good, but on the weekend it was one of our best performances of the year in terms of holding onto the ball and playing a grinding style of footy, which we like to play.
“There is a real drive in this playing group to play better and moving forward it doesn’t matter how we win, but we just have to get the two points.”
When the Bulldogs look back to the round 20 clash with the Sharks at Belmore, many would say it was one of the most disappointing performances of the year and Jackson agrees.
"We played poorly that afternoon and it was really disappointing in front of our fans."
Well since then, there has been a lot change for the Bulldogs and Jackson believes the loss to the Sharks was a real turning point in their season.
“That game was one of the turning points.
“We spoke as a group about doing the simple things right and we have really fixed that up in the last couple of weeks.
“There is always room for improvement, but I think we’re on the right track.”
