Talented youngster Moses Mbye today spoke with the media about his opportunity once again to wear the number six after the suspension of Josh Reynolds.
Mbye will again feature in the halves alongside Trent Hodkinson after Reynolds took the early plea for a tripping charge from the City v Country match.
It’s another opportunity for the Queenslander to put his hand up and do a job for his teammates.
“It’s not my decision to decide who plays at five-eight, but when an opportunity comes up as it has frequently this year, I am willing to step in,” said Mbye.
Mbye has had to fill many roles throughout the 2015 season, whether it’s in the centres, at five-eight, dummy-half or coming off the bench and while it may feel at times he doesn’t quite know where he fits in, the talented Mbye is happy doing any role he has been given.
“At the moment I have been getting a few games and string a few together, but you don’t want to be in and out of a side for the rest of your career.
“I really enjoy playing all those positions. I think it’s a vital part of the game being able to cover a few positions.
“I’m really enjoying the versatility role and I think I will continue that for the remainder of the year.”
Mbye will this week come up against arguably the best player in the game, Jonathan Thurston.
Thurston has almost single handily turned the Cowboys season around after they started the season with three straight losses and while both teams have had a rest last weekend, Mbye knows stopping Thurston will be a massive task.
“Any game against Johnathan Thurston is a tough one. He is a world class player. It’s definitely a big task for myself and the team.”
