The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs are encouraging club supporters and players in their junior leagues to support the Boots for Kids campaign and donate footy boots so they can be distributed to indigenous kids in rural and remote areas who have none.
The Bulldogs will have collection bins positioned at ANZ Stadium during Thursday night’s game (Aisles 127 & 104) and at Belmore Sports Ground during the junior Grand Finals this Saturday. Alternatively, boots can be left in special boot bins in Coles supermarkets across NSW. The campaign is an initiative of Fairfax Media who have organised for the boots, which will be cleaned and paired with socks, to be trucked by Linfox to the communities in need.
“No kid should be playing any sport in barefoot, but we do know this is a reality for many kids in remote areas,” said Bulldogs CEO Raelene Castle.
“Rugby League has the power to change people’s lives for the better and we will take any opportunity to encourage indigenous kids to get involved in our game. A pair of boots is a great starting point and I know the Bulldogs community will respond to the call to donate new or used footy boots and help these kids.”
Bulldogs players have committed to donating their boots at the end of their football season.
