To say Ben loves the Bulldogs is an understatement and when his name was pulled from the bucket to win a Bulldogs signed jersey at Friday’s Wishlist fundraising breakfast on the Sunshine Coast, his reaction and passion for the Bulldogs had the room in tears.
Bulldogs CEO Raelene Castle was on stage and drew Ben’s name out of the bucket. As Ben made his way to the stage it was clear this would not be a standard prize draw. Instead of shaking Raelene’s hand, Ben embraced her in a giant bear hug and with tears rolling down his cheeks, Ben stood crying from excitement and happiness.
He truly loves the Bulldogs and the prize of a signed 2014 jersey was the ultimate, closely followed by the opportunity to have a happy snap with Co-Captains Mick Ennis and Frank Pritchard shortly after.
Both Co-Captains and Head Coach Des Hasler accompanied Raelene to the fundraiser for Wishlist; the Sunshine Coast’s Hospital Foundation supporting local public health services.
Wishlist’s CEO Lisa Rowe was thrilled, “To say we’re delighted by the success of the event is an understatement. We can’t thank the Bulldogs enough for helping us shine the spotlight on the issue of mental illness.”
Bulldogs players spent time on the Sunshine Coast to deliver the NRL’s Tackle Bullying message to local students and for a team camp in the lead up to the third trial versus Melbourne Storm hosted by the Brisbane Bombers, which they won 20-12.
