The home side crossed to regain their lead, but the never-say die Bulldogs pulled it back through Kaawyn Patterson.

Unfortunately, it was the red, white and blues who took home the spoils with a try in the dying stages, with the final scoreboard reading 32-24. 

NSW Women's Premiership: Bulldogs 22 def by Knights 28

The Bulldogs' quest for a maiden victory in the NSW Women's Premiership fell agonisingly short after a 28-22 defeat in Newcastle against the Knights on Saturday afternoon.

Goal kicking proved to be the difference between the two sides, with five tries scored apiece in a back-and-forth contest.

Newcastle struck first before speedster Bridget Hoy crossed, with the hosts scoring twice in quick succession soon after. But the Bulldogs showed their grit to bring the half-time score to 18-12 with Charlotte Eather touching down. 

The theme of twos continued in the second half, with the Knights extending further after 45 minutes with another brace, before Limilaiti Paea and Moana Courtenay added their names to the scoresheet. 

Unfortunately the Bulldogs were unable to score a sixth try, with Newcastle taking home the win. 

Jersey Flegg Cup: Bulldogs 28 def Roosters 24

It was another five-tries-all contest in the Jersey Flegg competition, but this time the Bulldogs were able to claim victory, downing the Sydney Roosters 28-24 in a fast a furious contest at Wentworth Park. 

Over 15 minutes passed before either side was able to trouble the scoreboard, with the hosts crossing before Bailey Myers returned serve for the Bulldogs, triggering a flurry of tries that saw the Roosters take a narrow 12-10 lead.

The hosts extended further with a try in the 49th minute, and victory looked all but assured for Eastern Suburbs, before Broncos Reuben and Jope Rauqe took matters into their own hands, despite being down a man. 

Damon Humphrys' nailed both conversions, seeing the Bulldogs steal the victory from jaws of defeat in a thrilling contest to retain second position. 

Ron Massey Cup: Bulldogs 40 def Magpies 30

It was a high-scoring thriller at Hammondville Oval with the Bulldogs running away with a 40-30 point victory against the Wentworthville Magpies to solidify their third-place finish.

The Blue and Whites found themselves trailing 16-nil after just ten minutes, before a returning serve with three tries of their own in an eight minute period to level.

Paul Johnson bagged his second to take the lead after half an hour, bagging his third just moments after the break to extend the lead.

Wenty hit back to close the gap to four points, but Johnson proved too good with his fourth of the day, before Elsiyah Laumatia joined him on the scoresheet.

A penalty goal allowed the Bulldogs to extend their lead to 16 with less than ten remaining, before the visitors scored a consolation try in the dying stages.

The Bulldogs will now face St Marys at Leichhardt Oval this Saturday morning at 11:00am in order to qualify for the preliminary final.
