Pathways Wrap Round 6: Flegg Shut Out Penrith, Massey Claim First Win

It was an interesting weekend of results for our Senior Pathways teams, with the Jersey Flegg Cup now sitting in equal first place after a big win over Penrith.

The Ron Massey Cup team also claimed a milestone over the weekend, taking home their first victory of the season after a big win at home.

NSW Cup: Bulldogs 10 def by Panthers 42

It was a tough outing for the NSW Cup Bulldogs in Round 6, downed 42-10 to the Penrith Panthers at Belmore Sports Ground

Cooper Toy touched down for the first score of the day after just eight minutes, however the Panthers took the ascendency soon after to take a 16-6 lead at the break.

Despite a try to Logan Spinks closing the gap with half an hour remaining, it was Penrith who continued their run to score a further four tries and seal the win.

Jersey Flegg Cup: Bulldogs 28 def Panthers 0

The Bulldogs have continued their dominance of the Jersey Flegg Cup ladder with a 28-nil thumping of the Penrith Panthers at Belmore Sports Ground.

After a tough softening up period, it was Patrick Young who struck first in the 20th minute, setting up a 6-nil lead at the break.

But it was the first fifteen minutes of the second half that sealed the match, with Alex Conti, Aaymon Fitzgibbon and Lyncoln Cliffe touching down to extend the lead to 22.

A four-pointer to Finau Latu was the cherry on top as the Bulldogs mounted a 28-point victory to seal their fourth consecutive victory.

Ron Massey Cup: Bulldogs 36 def Manly Leagues 6

It was a resounding first win of the season for the Ron Massey Cup Bulldogs, putting Manly Leagues to the sword in a 36-6 victory at Hammondville Oval in their Round 3 clash.

It was the Latrell Fing show, with the wily five-eighth scoring a hat-trick as the Bulldogs ran in seven tries to one.

Canterbury began proceedings with two quick-fire tries to gauge a settled 8-nil lead at the break. Fing shot out of the blocks in the second half to nab hit hat-trick after scoring twice in the space of four minutes.

From there the Bulldogs continued their momentum with a second try to Mikaele Senibua and a four-pointer to Malachi Filipo, before Manly finally troubled the scoreboard in the 64th minute.

But the Bulldogs had the final say with one last try in the 74th minute to Carson T'Maalii, with Damon Humphreys' four goals giving the side a well-deserved 30-point win.
