Academy Wrap Round 1: Bulldogs Pile Points on Manly

It was a great start for the Academy Bulldogs' Lisa Fiaola Cup and Tarsha Gale Cup campaigns, with both sides piling on the points against Manly.

In Round 2, all four teams host Canberra Raiders as the Harold Matthews Cup and SG Ball Cup sides kick-off their seasons following a Round 1 bye.

Lisa Fiaola Cup: Bulldogs 68 def Sea Eagles nil

It was a dream start for the Lisa Fiaola Cup side in a fourteen-tries-to-nil drubbing of Manly at Hammondville Oval on Saturday afternoon.

Winger Raneh Siteine scored in the opening minute, finishing off the day with four tries to her name, with the side leading to a 36-nil half-time lead.

The points continued to pile on in the second stanza, despite having a player in the sin bin, running in a further six four-pointers to leave the final score at 68-nil.

Head Coach Vanessa Foliaki was thrilled with the performance, highlighting the side's preparation as a key to their victory.

"It was a strong result by the team on the weekend, showing what we're capable of when we prepare properly and commit to our standards," Foliaki said.

"The girls trusted the work and it showed on the field with a well-earned win."

Tarsha Gale Cup: Bulldogs 60 def Sea Eagles 4

The Tarsha Gale Cup side had an equally impressive outing, defeating the Sea Eagles 60-4 following the Lisa Fiaola Cup's performance.

Scoring twelve tries and conceding just one, the Blue and Whites ran in seven four-pointers before the break, with a dominant 42-nil half-time score. By full-time they had added another handful of tries to go beyond the half century.

Winger Alleya Scrivens finished the match with a tally of 32 points with five tries and six goals, while front rower Giovanna Suani scored a hat-trick in a big win for the forwards.

Head Coach Charlotte Henry was humble in victory.

"It was a strong start to the season," Henry said.

"Our mission for Round 1 was to execute our own roles and stick to our processes.

I think the girls did a great job to stick to the plan and you could see it in what they achieved.
