In another moment highlighting their strengthening partnership the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs and Wattyl Paints banded together to give the Chester Hill Hornet’s clubhouse a fresh coat of paint.
Heading out to the Terry Lamb Complex in Chester Hill - appropriately named after the Bulldogs Hall of Famer and Hornets junior – the team completed a full restoration of the clubhouse using vibrant blue and gold colours of the Hornets.
Taking time out of their busy schedule were NRL duo Jacob Preston and Daniel Suluka-Fifita, who were busy with brushes and rollers in hand to help painters with the finishing touches using paint generously supplied by Wattyl in what proved to be an enjoyable morning with plenty of helping hands.
Lamb, who spent the morning as the Bulldogs’ unofficial supervisor, was thrilled with the restoration of the clubhouse.
“It’s fantastic. I haven’t been up here in about 20 years,” he said.
“Wattyl have generously donated the paint, and the painters from Final Touch Painting, as well as our players have put their time aside.

“I didn’t paint it in the early days but the boys did a great job today. You’ve gotta have a Captain and someone to tell them what to do.”
“All jokes aside, it’s been a great day for our community.”
Established in 1946, Chester Hill are in the midst of a regrowing stage. With eleven teams and over 200 players involved aged 5-18, the Hornets will proudly run out their first girls teams in 2026.
The restoration, according to Chester Hill Hornets Secretary Lance Amiatu, will be a game-changer for the proud CBDJRL Club.
“After two years of speaking about the process, to see it happening now means a lot because we get to share this with the kids,” Lance said.
It’s something we can now proudly present to our players and their families to create a real community environment.
“We’ve got our girls teams coming in next year as well, and we’ve been really inspired by seeing the Bulldogs’ NRLW players on television each week. It’s really urged a lot of the girls in the community to give Rugby League a go.
“The last couple of years we hadn’t even been able to go upstairs, so now we can properly use the facilities for Club photos, meetings and video sessions.
“We can make it a true home base. We’re very fortunate.”
Martin Watt, National Sales Manager of Wattyl Australia, highlighted the opportunity for both Wattyl and the Bulldogs to continue their legacy together by bring the local community together.
“We all know that the Bulldogs are The Family Club, and at Wattyl we have very similar family-oriented values,” he explained.
To be able to give back to the local community alongside the Club, bring people together and to get this done has been a fantastic initiative from all involved.
“We can’t wait to see the finished product and we want to give a big shout out to our painters.
“I thought Presto (Jacob Preston) was the best one out there. Terry Lamb showed off his leadership qualities as a great supervisor. He might have a future in the painting industry.”
