Vale Notice: Bill Petley

The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs would like to express their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Bill Petley, who has sadly passed away.

Petley, Bulldog no.229, was a goal-kicking fullback who played 93 first-grade games for the Club between 1956-1963.

After making his debut for the Club in Round 13, 1956, he played a further five matches before joining Newtown for a solitary season.

Bill returned to become Canterbury's fullback for the next five seasons, featuring in matches including the 1960 semi-final against Easts and the Pre-Season Final victory against Western Suburbs in 1962.

Following the arrival of Les Johns, Bill selflessly moved to the wing in his final season at the Club.

In 2004, Bill was nominated for the Berries to Bulldogs 70 Year Team of Champions.

The Bulldogs wish to pay their respects to Bill. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
