The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs are pleased to announce the extension of hard-working forward and proud Darug man, Josh Curran.
The 25-year-old has recommitted to the Club until at least the end of 2026 after having enjoyed a career-defining season in 2024. The versatile recruit became a mainstay of Cameron Ciraldo’s side in his first year back in Sydney following a five-year stint in New Zealand, playing across the prop, lock and second-row row positions as needed. Alongside fellow journeyman Kurt Mann, the two added energy and speed to the line-up, proving to be a dangerous combination in attack.
Josh Curran Try
Curran stood tall for the Blue and White, playing 24 games throughout the 2024 season, averaging 120 running metres, and amassing 756 tackles.
With his trademark Indigenous headgear, agile playing style, and long flowing locks, Curran quickly established himself as a fan favourite among Bulldogs Members and supporters.
General Manager of Football Phil Gould AM said Curran’s re-signing was great news for the resurgent Bulldogs.
“We are pleased Josh has extended his time with the Bulldogs,” Gould said.
He has clearly played some of his best football this year and become an integral part of the team as both a major contributor on and off the field.
The three-time Indigenous All Star expressed his excitement about extending his time at Canterbury, citing his coach and the Club’s proud Pack as significant factors in his strong performances in 2024.
“I started loving my footy again under Ciro [Ciraldo],” he said. “He was a big part of why I played well this year. He had trust and belief in me and that’s all I ever asked from him.”
Curran looks forward to the upcoming seasons, representing the Bulldogs badge and community with pride. “I didn’t realise how big and passionate the Bulldogs’ fanbase is when I joined the Club. We say it all the time – you're not just playing for the Club; you’re also playing for the community.”
Curran will rejoin the NRL squad in November for the 2025 pre-season.
