Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs Embrace NRLW Double Header at Belmore Sports Ground

In an exciting development for rugby league fans in the Canterbury Bankstown area, the Bulldogs are proud to embrace the hosting of a first-ever NRLW double header at our iconic home in Belmore Sports Ground.

This groundbreaking event not only marks a significant milestone for the region but also represents a remarkable step forward in the promotion and support of female rugby league.

As part of their long-term vision to strengthen women's rugby league, the Bulldogs have been tirelessly working towards securing an NRLW licence in the next competition expansion. The eagerly awaited double header, which will feature elite female athletes showcasing their talents, including some star features from the Club’s Tarsha Gale Cup and Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership pathways teams, is seen as an essential building block in establishing the Bulldogs' future position in the NRLW competition and further solidifying the club's commitment to fostering female pathways within the sport.

Aaron Warburton, Bulldogs Chief Executive Officer, shared his enthusiasm for the event despite there being no Bulldogs team, stating: "We are thrilled to welcome the NRLW double header to Belmore Sports Ground.

“This is a momentous occasion for rugby league in our area and a great opportunity for the community to rally behind the women's game. We hope this event can inspire future generations of NRLW players and ignite some dreams for young prospective players who may one day represent the Canterbury Bankstown area and make their first-grade debut for the Bulldogs."

The Bulldogs have welcomed the NRL’s decision to host the double-header here at Belmore, saying the event will serve as a catalyst for future female rugby league events at Belmore Sports Ground.

By witnessing the exhilarating action from the Family Hill or Belmore Sports Ground grandstand, Warburton hopes there will be some young players empowered to chase their own dreams of rugby league success.

The Bulldogs are committed to strengthening pathways for female players at all levels and by hosting this double header, the Club hopes locals will take the time to come and support the growth of female rugby league and showcase the demand for one of our own teams in the competition.

“Belmore is always a great viewing experience. We hope families come along and create their own memorable experiences which hopefully, will in turn lead to even more support for women’s rugby league in our area and more support behind our future NRLW licence,” he said.

As the NRLW double header approaches, the Bulldogs are determined to showcase their readiness to make their mark on the NRLW space and pave the way for future generations of talented female athletes to proudly represent the club and the community.

The double header will see the Newcastle Knights take on the North QLD Cowboys at 12pm, followed by the Wests Tigers going head-to-head with the Cronulla Sharks at 1:50pm on Sunday, July 30.

Tickets are priced at $10.00 to ensure a great afternoon of family-fun and football for all. Tickets are available to purchase here: https://premier.ticketek.com.au/shows/show.aspx?sh=BEMNRLW23
