Pregame Notes: Round 21 v Panthers

Sitting one game clear of the Dragons and two clear of Wests Tigers, the Bulldogs have plenty of motivation to dig in and try to avoid a second wooden spoon in three years.

Apart from the Panthers this week and Raiders in Round 25, the blue and whites' remaining matches are against sides outside the eight so they will entertain hopes of some morale-boosting wins in the run home.

The Panthers showed off their incredible depth during the Origin period and with Cleary back to steer the ship they are in the box seat to become the first team since Parramatta in 1981-82-83 to claim three premierships on the trot.

Team News

Bulldogs: Kyle Flanagan takes over at halfback from Toby Sexton (head knock) while Paul Alamoti comes in at centre for Braidon Burns (abdomen). Harrison Edwards has been added to the bench. Star back-rower Viliame Kikau is listed among the reserves as he nears a return from the pectoral injury that has sidelined him since Round 4. Josh Addo-Carr is also on the reserves list as he recovers from a hamstring injury suffered in Origin III.

Panthers: Having missed five games with a hamstring injury, Nathan Cleary returns at halfback. Origin stars Stephen Crichton, Brian To'o, Liam Martin and Isaah Yeo are also back on deck after they were rested from the Dolphins game. Zac Hosking goes back to the bench and Jaeman Salmon drops out while Cleary's understudy Jack Cogger is 18th Man.
