Bulldogs collect the Mortimer-McCarthy Cup

The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs collected the Mortimer-McCarthy Cup on Saturday evening, following their win over South Sydney Rabbitohs, 36-32 at Accor Stadium.

The two sides met to play for the Cup which was first introduced in July 2022, in support of the Family of League Foundation.

The Mortimer family is Bulldogs royalty, with Steve, Chris and Peter all having long careers with the club - the trio famously helping the Dogs to premiership glory in the 1980s. Bob McCarthy also played for Canterbury between 1976-77, before returning to his former club to finish his career and become a Souths legend.

The two clubs meet each year to play for the Cup, which has been named in their honour and engraved with the names of those who have inspired many generations of players and fans alike.

The Bulldogs will proudly boast the Cup until the sides clash again, in their second fixture of the 2024 draw.
