Life Member: Aiden Tolman

Aiden Tolman played 53 first grade games for the Melbourne Storm before joining the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in 2011.

In Round 1 of the 2011 National Rugby League season, Aiden made his debut for the Club against the Wests Tigers at ANZ Stadium. By the end of 2011, he had finished the season with 22 appearances for the Bulldogs.

In 2012, Aiden made a further 27 appearances as a consistent performer in a side that won 20 of their games. He achieved the Coaches Award for the Club for his performances over the a season and played in the 2012 NRL Grand Final loss against his former club Melbourne at ANZ Stadium.

In 2013, the Bulldogs re-signed Aiden for a further four years, through until the end of the 2017 season. For the second year in a row, he once again received the Coaches Award from then Coach, Des Hasler. Aiden finished the season with 25 appearances.

Reaching the NRL Grand Final again with the Bulldogs in 2014, Aiden was among the playing side to concede the final against the South Sydney Rabbitohs. He played 22 games for the Club in 2014.

On August 1, 2015, Aiden was named to the Team of the Decade as part of the Club's 80th year celebrations.

Aiden played 21 games in the 2015 NRL Season as the Club qualified for finals. He played in both of Canterbury's finals matches as the Club reached the second week but were eliminated by the Sydney Roosters.

Notching up a further 25 appearances for the Club in 2016, Aiden made the decision to re-sign with the Bulldogs and see him at the Club through until 2020.

He made a total of 24 appearances for the Bulldogs in the 2017 NRL season and as the Club failed to reach the finals for the first time since 2011.

In 2018, Aiden made 16 appearances for Canterbury as the Club endured one of its toughest seasons on field. At one stage of the season, the Bulldogs were sitting second last on the table but rallied to achieve victories over the Brisbane Broncos, New Zealand Warriors and St George to finish the season in 12th place. A leader on and off the field who lead by example, the prop forward finished the 2018 season with 513 tackles, 1853 running metres, 707 post contact metres and a 93.1% tackle efficiency rate from 16 appearances.

In 2019, Aiden made his 250th first grade appearance in Round 15 against the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks, which ended in a 14-12 victory to the Bulldogs. In Round 20 against the Penrith Panthers, Aiden played his 200th game for the Bulldogs - just the 12th Canterbury player to do so - and as achieved inside nine seasons with the Club.

Aiden made a total of 23 appearances for Canterbury in the 2019 NRL season as the Club finished 12th on the table. Again in 2019, the team had found themselves sitting last on the table and in real danger of finishing with the wooden spoon. However, for the third straight season and in a demonstration of real resilience, the Cantebury side clawed back four straight victories over the Penrith Panthers, Wests Tigers, South Sydney Rabbitohs and Parramatta Eels. All four teams were in competing position for the finals series. Aiden, the Club's prop forward, finished the 2019 season with 870 tackles, 3053 running metres, 984.4 post contact metres and a 92.8% tackle efficiency rate from 23 appearances. 

In 2020, Aiden's final season with the Club before departing to the Cronulla Sharks for the 2021 and 2022 seasons, he ran out on 17 occasions to finish his Bulldogs career with 222 games under his belt, and 113 wins in the blue and white.

Aiden retired from the game with 317 first-grade appearances.

Once a Bulldog, Always a Bulldog, the Smithtown Tigers local junior and Bulldog #733 was nominated to receive the honour of Life Membership with the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs at the Club's 88th Annual General Meeting on Sunday, 19 February 2023. His nomination was approved by unanimous vote and had Life Membership bestowed on him alongside fellow Bulldog Joshua Jackson.

The pair were acknowledged and celebrated at the NRL Pre-Season Challenge at Belmore Sports Ground later that day.
