Jersey Flegg climb into top four

The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs Jersey Flegg team defeated the Cronulla Sharks 24-14 at Belmore Sports Ground in round 13.

Canterbury scored four tries to three and kicked four goals to the Sharks one, while the 10-point victory puts the Dogs in fourth position on the ladder and three points clear of fifth.

The win was the Bulldogs third straight victory, following wins over the Penrith Panthers and Sydney Roosters and their second for the season against the Sharks after recording a 28-12 win in round seven.

Jersey Flegg Highlights: Round 13 v Sharks

Played at a sunny Belmore Sports Ground on Saturday, the Sharks scored in just the third minute through centre Kayal Iro, before the Bulldogs asserted control and scored two first half tries with Chase Chapman and Bayley Cox both crossing for the home side. Five-eighth Bailey Bionid-Odo converted both tries to hand the Bulldogs a 12-4 lead at half time.

After the Dogs had led at the break, a try to Kade Dykes brought the Sharks closer, however the Bulldogs would respond with a try to Turoa Williams and when Isaac Longmuir crossed for a four-pointer in the 60th minute to close the gap for the Sharks, Canterbury would seal the win with a try of their own just two minutes from the final siren through halfback Bailey Hayward.
