Stat Attack: Meaney reignites fullback case in Bulldogs return

Canterbury outside back Nick Meaney made the most of his return to fullback last weekend with a match-winning effort that was backed up by Telstra Tracker's high-performance data.

The Ballina product was a late inclusion for Dallin Watene-Zelezniak after the Kiwi international was hospitalised with a leg infection during the week.

Meaney was returning to the paddock from his own injury after breaking his ribs in a nasty collision against the Rabbitohs on Good Friday earlier this month.

With a long-term ambition of playing fullback, Meaney did his chances no harm of retaining the spot ahead of this week's clash against the Eels.

According to Telstra Tracker data, Meaney ran for 866 high-speed metres (20km/h or more) in Saturday's 18-12 breakthrough win over the Sharks.

Meaney's figure was well ahead of Melbourne's Nicho Hynes (709m) and Warriors trio Rocco Berry, Bayley Sironen and Reece Walsh.

The NRL debuts of Berry and Walsh were a shining light to come out of the Warriors' loss to the Storm on Anzac Day with Walsh showing he has the speed to match his ball-playing skill.

The former Bronco, who arrived at the Warriors earlier this month, finished with the equal third-highest speed for the week, just ahead of Storm star Josh Addo-Carr with a 35.2km/h sprint effort.

Former Broncos teammates Xavier Coates (36.5km/h) and Herbie Farnworth (36km/h) finished in the top two with Parramatta's Mitchell Moses also in the mix.

For long-distance metres covered, Roosters teen sensation Sam Walker continues to make his mark in that category with another round-high 9.9 kilometres covered during his Anzac Day performance.

Walker's efforts were just ahead of Penrith's Nathan Cleary, Bulldogs halfback Kyle Flanagan and Storm star Cameron Munster.

In recognising the short stints in round seven, Knights forward Brodie Jones made the most of his 15 minutes on the field with 115 metres covered per minute.

Rabbitohs forward Tevita Tatola finished second but left the field after just four minutes due to a hamstring injury.
