Bulldogs respond with win over Roosters

The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs Jersey Flegg side has downed the Sydney Roosters 40-16 in their Round 6 clash at Belmore Sports Ground.

After last week’s draw and a one-point loss to the South Sydney Rabbitohs in round four, the Bulldogs bounced back with an impressive seven tries to three victory over the Roosters.

Winger Kurt Picken grabbed a double for the home side, while Kaylib Savage kicked six from seven with the boot.

It was a dream start for the Roosters as winger Corey Fenning touched down in the first minute of the match, putting the side up 6-nil just after kick-off.

The Bulldogs replied with two quick-fire tries, but the tri-colours hit back to level after 25 minutes - however, Canterbury would strike twice more in the opening half to lead 22-12 at the break.

The Dogs extended their lead further with another brace of tries within the first ten minutes of the second half, and while the Roosters grabbed a third try midway through the second half to give themselves a glimmer of hope, their opponents iced the result with a final four-pointer.

The win has the Bulldogs placed in sixth position on the ladder and this week take on the third placed Cronulla Sharks at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium.
