Junior Reps Round 3 Results: SG Ball impress in Tigers win

Round three of the junior representative competitions has concluded following a triple header at Leichhardt Oval.

The club’s SG Ball team claimed a 42-16 win over the Balmain Tigers, while both the Tarsha Gale and Harold Matthews team suffered defeats.

The Bulldogs Tarsha Gale Cup team suffered a 26-12 loss to the Balmain Tigers. They girls started well and were down 8-6 at the break, before the home side added four second half tries to the Bulldogs one to grab a 14-point win. Canterbury loss second rower Precious Papalii for the match and the season with a shoulder injury to add to their woes. The injury to Precious is the fourth season ending injury the team has sustained and despite the injuries, the girls are continually working hard to get better. Their depth has been tested, but there are determined and focused for this week’s match against the Canberra Raiders.

Tarsha Gale Cup Highlights: Round 3 v Wests Tigers

The Bulldogs Harold Matthews team suffered their third loss of the season, going down to the Balmain Tigers 12-4. The Tigers crossed for three first half tries in the 10th, 16th and 21st minutes to lead 12-0 at the break. The Dogs grabbed the only try of the second half in the 33rd minute, but too many errors and a lack of discipline really hurt the team. They will now to their focus to this week’s match against the Penrith Panthers.

Harold Matthews Highlights: Round 3 v Balmain Tigers

The Bulldogs SG Ball team were outstanding in their 42-16 win over Balmain. The club’s under 19s team ran in eight tries to three to remain undefeated after three weeks of the competition. With high completions, a 20-6 half time lead and a great attitude to defend, the Bulldogs were simply impressive in their 26-point victory. Cameron Lawrence and Paul Alamoti both grabbed two tries each, while forwards Jack Todd, Bayley Cox, Lipoi Hopoi and Charlie Lennon did a tremendous job all day to lead from the front and lay the platform required to get the win. The Bulldogs will this week play the ninth placed Panthers.

Meanwhile, the North Coast Bulldogs defeated NMR Knights 18-0 and the the Northern Tigers suffered a 30-18 loss to the Northern River Titans in the Andrew Johns Cup, while the North Coast Bulldogs claimed a 28-12 win over the NMR Knights and the Northern Tigers defeated the Northern River Titans 36-20 in the Laurie Daley Cup.
