In this week’s Pearl’s Preview Pod, four-time premiership winner Steve Renouf explains why the Broncos should go after Blake Green or Benji Marshall to play in the halves in 2020.
Renouf says teenager Tom Dearden needs an experienced, quality half beside him. Marshall is off contract now while Green has a year to run on his deal at the Warriors but Renouf says the Broncos should investigate the possibility of getting the former Manly playmaker on their books sooner.
Renouf says “heads should roll” in the wake of the Broncos 58-nil thrashing by the Eels but says that cleanout should not be confined to the playing group.
He also outlines why mastercoaches Craig Bellamy and Wayne Bennett will guide Melbourne and South Sydney to victories in the qualifying finals against Parramatta and Manly respectively.
The Sunday Session with Craig Wing: Finals Week 1
Craig Wing joins Chris Kennedy and Kenny Scott to discuss an action-packed opening week of the Telstra Premiership finals plus the opening round of the 2019 NRLW.
Kennedy shares his insights from being at Bankwest Stadium for the Eels’ record-breaking win over Brisbane, while Wing reckons the Storm’s bash-em-up loss to the Raiders gives the Eels hope in next week’s semi-final.
Scott says Joey Leilua’s fireworks mishap actually helped Canberra while the Blue & Gold crowd’s love affair with Maika Sivo, South Sydney's face-saving fightback and Manly’s incredible refusal to lie down all get a run while Wing also believes the rapidly improving skills on show in the NRLW are a credit to the players and coaches.
The Powwow with Sowwow: Jarrod Croker
In this week’s edition of The Powwow with Sowwow, Jamie Soward catches up with Canberra captain Jarrod Croker on the eve of the Raiders’ finals campaign.
Croker talks about how he’s bounced back from serious injury, the pride in the club following Ricky Stuart’s rebuild and how the Green Machine always used to overpower Sowie’s Dragons during their winning streak stretching out over several seasons against St George Illawarra.
