Over the past 6 weeks, several young Bulldog's from the Jersey Flegg squad, have been participating in a Cooking Skills program with the Canterbury Leagues Club.

This program was established to ensure players living away from home, developed sound cooking skills, in addition to creating a weekly shopping list and learning how to look after themselves.

Lesson One saw the boys develop their own weekly meal plans. This included breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. From this, the players created a shopping list which covered all the ingredients for each meal.

The second lesson saw the boys travel to the grocery store to shop for their grocery list. They were accompanied by the Executive Chef of the Canterbury Leagues Club – Stephanie Azar, as well as Sandra Somani – Event and Sales Coordinator.

The third lesson was based around simple cooking methods and creating two dishes from scratch. The dishes created were - Spaghetti Bolognese, Chilli con carne, Chicken and Beef pie and Beef and Chicken burgers.

To end the program, the boys spent the night putting their new learnt skills to the test. This involved cooking two meals. All meals were assessed by staff of the Canterbury Leagues Club, who provided great feedback from the dishes they tried

The Bulldogs Wellbeing and Education department would like to thank Wayne Nolland, Stephanie Azar and Sandra Somani from the Canterbury Leagues Club for the support and help throughout the program.
