Local junior Marcelo Montoya will this weekend make his NRL debut after being named on the wing for the Bulldogs clash with the Warriors at Forsyth Barr Stadium, Dunedin.

The 21-year old comes into the side for the injured Kerrod Holland, after the winger damaged the AC joint in his right shoulder scoring a try in the Bulldogs loss to the Roosters last weekend.

Montoya, a Bankstown Bulls junior had a whirlwind 2016, scoring 19 tries in 18 games for the Bulldogs NYC side, as well as notching a try in Fiji's 20-18 win at Apia Park, in the first ever official Test match in Samoa.

“I’m just very honoured and grateful for the opportunity I have been given. I know there is a job to be done and I will be there to do it. Playing for Bankstown Bulls is where it all started for me and I’m just blessed to be where I am now” said Montoya.

“It’s been a massive twelve months for myself and my family. It’s unfortunate to see what has happened to Hop (Will Hopoate) and Dutchy (Kerrod Holland), but I just need to do my job for the boys and that’s what I’m looking forward to.”
