The newest squad of highly talented young footballers have arrived at Belmore as part of the Bulldogs Youth High Performance Program.

The Bulldogs Youth High Performance Program is designed to provide talented youth players with a game specific development program covering all areas of rugby league.

Newly appointed Pathways Performance Manager Andrew Patmore says that the program aims to give young players who are considering a career in the NRL a taste of the Bulldogs holistic approach to high performance.

“The program is designed to give those talented kids an excelerated pathway. The kids get access to NRL coaching, basic technique work in kicking, passing and tackling,” Patmore said.

“We need to make ensure that good talent transfers across into the higher levels.”

This holistic approach incorporates general and position specific skill acquisition, physiological monitoring and improvement plans, mind and motivation education whilst at all times ensuring player welfare is nurtured for a healthy and balanced athlete.

“To be an NRL player, it has to be a consistent application of the basic skills and that’s something this program emphasis through attitude and building club culture.

“Those areas are really important when transitioning through the grades.”
