Seven tries to two at the end of 80 minutes, highlighted by a Jayden Okunbor 95m effort.

The Bulldogs NYC side have made it back to back victories with a 36-12 victory over the Gold Coast Titans at ANZ Stadium today.

It was seven tries to two at the end of 80 minutes with Luis Strickland and Jayden Okunbor both registering doubles through the match.

There was just one change to the side named early in the week with new recruit Lachlan Lewis being brought straight into the side with Zac Greene the man to drop out of the side.

It was the perfect start for the pups with centre Jayden Okunbor getting an offload away to back rower Luis Strickland who barged over to score in the south-west corner. With Greene out of the side, fullback Josh Bergamin took over the kicking duties but couldn’t convert, leaving the score at 4-nil after as many minutes.

The 14th minute saw the next points scored with winger Marcelo Montoya crossing in the south-east corner. The Bulldogs had a seven-tackle, 20m restart and they made their way down field before five-eighth Adam Keighran put on a short side play, passing it out to D’Rhys Miller who then found a flying Montoya who went over untouched to score. Bergamin couldn’t convert from out wide with the score staying at 8-nil.

Seven minutes later the lead was extended off the back of a midfield bomb. The ball was left to bounce and as it flew over the fullback Tyrone Roberts-Davis’ head, hooker Joseph Tramontana was there to pick up the ball and score under the uprights. Bergamin appreciated it and converted from in front, increasing the lead out to 14-nil.

The 24th minute saw some good football being played and Strickland finished it off with a charging carry that saw him earn his second try of the match. The back rower carried three over the line but still managed to get the ball down, increasing the lead. Bergamin converted with the score now 20-nil.

The Titans opened their account in the 31st minute with interchange player Nathan Watts going over just to the left of the uprights. Roberts-Davis converted to leave the score at 20-6.

No further points were scored in the half with the pups taking a 14-point lead into the half-time break.

A fantastic 40/20 from Lewis sparked the Bulldogs attack and with an attacking set the Titans were on the back foot. The visitors held on for the set but on the last a Bergamin grubber was pounced on by winger Jack Gibbons. Bergamin couldn’t convert on this occasion with the scoreboard reading 24-6 after 52 minutes.

Four minutes later the Titans were on the attack and with a grubber being put in, it was the foot of Okunbor that stopped it. The Milperra junior then showed great skill and speed, picking the ball up and going 90m down field, untouched, to score. Bergamin knocked this one over, with the score now 30-6.

The Titans were tiring and the Bulldogs were firing up with Okunbor turning on a hit and spin from dummy-half, close to the line, to score. With the rain the heaviest it had been throughout the match, Bergamin converted to continue the good run with the score now 36-6 after 66 minutes.

After four penalties in a row, referee Phil Henderson had had enough and hooker Tramontana was the main offender who was sent to the sin-bin with six minutes remaining on the clock.

The visitors didn’t take much time at all to benefit from having the extra man, with back rower Shane Wright going over to score. Roberts-Davis converted, with the score now 36-12.
