Watch Blues winger Chris Anderson score the first hat-trick of tries in State of Origin.

Game One of this year's Holden State of Origin Series marks the 100th clash between fierce rugby league rivals New South Wales and Queensland. To mark the occasion NRL.com is reliving 100 of the most iconic moments of the past 34 years of this compelling contest.

Game Three, 1983: Chris Anderson scores the first hat-trick in State of Origin

It came with the 1983 series decider over as a contest and the Shield safely in Queensland's keeping for a second consecutive year (no prize was given for the first two one-off games in '80 and '81), but the first hat-trick of Origin deserved more than just consolation status based on the quality of tries from Bulldogs, Blues and Kangaroos flyer Chris Anderson. Though coming once the Maroons had racked up a 33-0 lead midway through the second half, Anderson's first and third tries came on the back of quality long-range efforts from the New South Welshman, while his second effort saw the 31-year-old tip-toe down the right hand touchline for a classic winger's meat pie.
