Following an exciting finish culminating in a Bulldogs win on field, came an exciting off field announcement that would see $25000 donated to Alex McKinnon to assist in his recovery and rehabilitation.

This massive achievement was only possible through the combined generosity of The Bulldogs, The Canterbury League Club, Gary Johnstone from Jaycar and Bulldogs members and fans.

Over and above the donation efforts the Bulldogs family has shown massive support to Alex, with fans posting messages of support on our giant #riseforalex cards, retiring and auctioning off the 16 jersey with all proceeds going to Alex and big screen messages from Bulldogs players at the game.

Our Bulldogs in the Community program really put its best foot forward this week in not only supporting the #riseforalaex campaign but also community partner beyondblue who were presented with a cheque for $10000 at half time of NRL. Beyondblue also threw support Alex’s way – with 60 of their volunteers doing bucket collections at the game.

There were so many highlights from the game on Saturday including the presentation of the 18 Jersey by club legend Les Johns, which was a great thrill for this weeks 18 Jersey winner, Amelia Tripodina.

Amelia has been a member of the Bulldogs for decades, she raised her 2 children to be Bulldogs supporters and is now doing the same to her grandchildren.

Amelia has followed the team from Belmore, to the Showground and now continues to go to every home game here at ANZ Stadium as well as any away games she can get too.

Her support and loyalty to the club is second to none and Amelia regularly attending Harold Matthews and SG Ball matches as well.

Her passion for the club continues to thrive and she is looking forward to a successful 2014.

We also honoured our ANZACs with the performing of the last post Matt Collins and the National Anthem performed by Mark Gable prior to NRL kick off.

We love our Junior League here at the bulldogs and as always we were treated to a great half time contest between the Revesby Heights Rhinos and the Greenacre Tigers.

Also featured at half time was Rob & Tahir’s famous (and hilarious) Bulldogs Bombs – four lucky fans were given the opportunity to come on field and try to catch a bomb. Needless to say there were many laughs at this.

Secure your spot at the next home game when we take on the Roosters at ANZ Stadium as a member of our team for 2014.
