The Bulldogs NYC side have this afternoon convincingly defeated the Dragons 40-12 at WIN Jubilee Oval.
It was seven tries to two at the end of 80 minutes after the Bulldogs went to the sheds at half-time leading 16-12.
Coach Andy Patmore made just one change to the side with Makahesi Makatoa being replaced by David Minute who was originally part of the five-man interchange bench.
The opening exchanges were spent with the Bulldogs on the attack and with possession came points with prop forward Lloyd Perrett going over under the uprights to score. Fullback Patrick Templeman converted to give the Bulldogs a 6-nil lead after as many minutes.
Just four minutes later the young pups went over for their second try of the afternoon through a great piece of individual play from halfback Jaelen Feeney. Off the back of a penalty the Bulldogs were in the attacking zone once more and a simple dummy and go from Feeney put him into open space and he went over to score untouched. Templeman again converted from in front with the score now 12-nil after 11 minutes of play.
The Dragons were able to answer back four minutes later through fullback Evander Cummins. The break was made down the left hand side by five-eighth Drew Hutchinson and it was a simple draw and pass on the inside once he had met Templeman at the back. Cummins went round to score under the posts and his halfback Jackson Hastings converted from in front with the score now 12-6.
The lead was extended in the 21st minute through winger Dylan Rintoul. It was a shift to the left that saw Templeman receive the ball and take it to the line before popping his head through and getting it away to his winger who crashed over in the south-eastern corner. The fullback couldnt convert from the sideline with the score left at 16-6.
Soon after it was Cummins who crossed for his second of the night which was then converted by Hastings to close the gap to 16-12. Thats how the score remained until the siren sounded for half-time.
With the match in the balance it was the Bulldogs who extended their lead in the 49th minute through interchange forward David Minute. After a disappointing first half in attack the Bulldogs were stringing a few passes together and Minute just showed too much strength close to the line going over to score. Templeman again converted with the score now at 22-12.
Seven minutes later Renouf Toomaga went over to score to take the lead out of the Dragons reach. It was converted with the scoreline being extended out to 28-12. The centre went over once again in the 68th minute to put the win well beyond doubt. Templemans boot was on once more with the score out to 34-12.
With nine minutes remaining the Bulldogs went over for their seventh try of the night through centre Matthew Fukofuka. Templeman slotted it over and with it registered the 40-12 victory.
