2020 Membership - COVID-19 Response

Over the past three months, our club has faced it’s toughest off-field challenge to date. The COVID-19 pandemic has seen our entire community directly or indirectly affected and here at Belmore it has been no different.

The support from our community, however, has been overwhelming. From our longest tenured Members through to first year Bulldogs, your patience and understanding has been greatly appreciated, and your messages of support to our players, coaches and staff have given us all energy and drive to get this club back to the top of Australian Rugby League.

Now, with the resumption of the 2020 season resulting in the slow return of crowds to our games, we can confidently present to you our plan for compensating Members who have had their 2020 Membership affected by COVID-19.

The Program – What are we doing?

In line with our guiding principles of fairness, loyalty and sustainability, we will provide all ticketed members who haven’t pledged with a credit for the value of the undelivered 2020 benefits towards their 2021 Membership renewal.

Each ticketed Bulldogs Membership package is broken down into two separate benefit types, Ticketed and Non-Ticketed. In 2020, we will be able to deliver the Non-Ticketed benefits, including specialty merchandise, dedicated customer service, and exclusive Member communications and partner offers. Ticketed Benefits, however, including Game Access, have been impacted by COVID-19.

The make-up of Ticketed and Non-Ticketed benefits varies for each Membership Package. The undelivered Ticketed benefits forms the basis for our credit program heading into 2021.

We will communicate the final value of each Member’s credit to them as part of our renewal process in September, and the amount will be automatically applied to your package price when renewing.

Who does the credit apply to, and how will it be applied?

We acknowledge that every Bulldogs Member has had their Membership experience affected by COVID-19 in 2020, however, Ticketed Members have been particularly affected, with the reduction in the number of games that members have access to.

Ticketed Members who do not pledge their 2020 Membership fee to the club will be eligible to receive a credit when renewing their 2021 Membership.

The 2020 credit will cover the undelivered Ticketed Benefits of all Membership categories which include game access. Each of these categories has access to between 1 and 11 games throughout the 2020 season.

The credit will be continually calculated throughout the remainder of the 2020 season, with each game that Members don’t have the opportunity to attend, credited to their 2021 Membership.

Ticketed Members who pledge their 2020 Membership fee to the club won’t be credited, however we will acknowledge their generous and important donation to the club with dedicated  merchandise, exclusive gameday experiences, and they will receive priority access to games in 2020 when crowds are allowed back into stadiums this season.

We cannot underestimate how important this pledge has been for the Club, and we are extremely grateful for the 2,254 members who have made this generous commitment so far.

We appreciate that not all Members can attend games and the support of our Non-Ticketed Members is greatly appreciated. As all benefits of these Memberships will be delivered in full in 2020, Non-Ticketed Members won’t be eligible to receive a credit towards their 2021 Membership.

How will I be able to attend games?

The NSW Government has recently announced that larger crowds will be allowed to sporting events from July 1 and we remain hopeful that all our Ticketed Members can attend matches from this date onwards.

If the approved capacity means that only some of our Ticketed Members can attend each week, Member attendance at these games will be allocated in line with our 3 guiding principles - loyalty, fairness and sustainability.

Membership Category, Tenure and Pledge status will all be determining factors in how we allocate ticketing for our remaining home games if capacity means we must limit the number of Ticketed Members who can attend.

If you would like to Pledge your 2020 Membership Fee to the club, click here to do so now.

We acknowledge that every Member is in a unique financial position, and there will be some Members who wish to pledge but cannot do so for a variety of reasons.

The ticketing process for the foreseeable future will be via a ticket redemption in the weeks leading up to each home game. This is to control seating, ensure that our club follows bio-security requirements and to keep a register of who attends each match.

Examples of how credits will be determined

The below examples illustrate how the final credits will be calculated, with Non-Ticketed and Ticketed benefits marked as either delivered or un-delivered. The games indicated as delivered are an example only, and the games accessed during the 2020 season may differ.

Platinum Membership: John Smith

John Smith renewed his adult Platinum Membership for $385 in 2020.

This membership package includes non-ticketed benefits such as an exclusive Member scarf and cap, partner offers from our club sponsors and ticket pre-sales to NRL major events. By the end of the season John will receive all the non-ticketed benefits included with his Membership.

Ticketed benefits in this package include access to attend 11 games (10 home games and one reciprocal Souths game). Due to his Platinum Membership and his Tenure, John was given access to attend 6 home games and the reciprocal Souths match in Round 19 of the revised draw. John missed out on access to the first 4 games, and the value of these 4 games will be credited towards John’s 2021 Membership.

The final credit value will be communicated to John as part of his renewal process, starting in September.

Flexi 3 Membership: Jane Smith

Jane Smith paid $70 for an adult Flexi 3 Membership package, seated in the Kennel.

This membership package includes non-ticketed benefits such as an exclusive Member cap, partner offers from our club sponsors and ticket pre-sales to NRL major events. By the end of the season Jane will receive all the non-ticketed benefits included with her Membership.

Ticketed benefits in this package include access to Jane’s choice of 3 home games. Due to her tenure, Jane was able to attend 3 home games in the 2020 season. Jane will not receive a credit towards her 2021 Membership.

The final renewal price will be communicated to Jane as part of the renewal process, starting in September.

Queensland Membership: George Smith

George Smith paid $65 for an adult Queensland Membership package.

This Membership package includes non-ticketed benefits such as an exclusive Member cap, partner offers from our club sponsors and ticket pre-sales to NRL major events. By the end of the season George will receive all the non-ticketed benefits included with his Membership.

Ticketed benefits in this package include access to attend 1 Bulldogs game in Queensland of his choice. Due to his Membership package, George was not able attend a match in Queensland this year and the value of that game will be credited towards Johns 2021 Membership.

The final credit value will be communicated to George as part of his renewal process, starting in September.

What’s needed from me?

Ticketed Members – Paid Upfront

If you pay for your ticketed Membership upfront and you haven’t pledged your Membership fee to the club, your credit will be automatically applied to your Membership Package during the renewal process. You do not need to redeem this credit or apply a code during checkout to receive this credit.

The final value of this credit will be calculated and updated as the season progresses and communicated to you as part of the regular renewal process starting in September.

Ticketed Members – Payment Plan

If you pay for your ticketed Membership via a payment plan and you haven’t pledged your fee to the club, your credit will be automatically applied to your Membership Package during the renewal process. You do not need to redeem this credit or apply a code during checkout to receive this credit.

The final value of this credit will be calculated and updated as the season progresses and communicated to you as part of the regular renewal process starting in September.

Because you are currently paying for your Membership on a payment plan, you must finish paying for your 2020 Membership prior to 5pm, July 31st to take advantage of this credit program. This ensures that we can identify you as a fully paid 2020 Member, calculate the final credit value and communicate it to you in your regular renewal comms.

Members who have Pledged their support

As you have pledged your 2020 Membership fee to the club, there is nothing further required from you at this stage.

We are extremely grateful for your support and will be acknowledging your generous contribution throughout the remainder of this season and into 2021.

If you would like to further support the club, you can make a tax-deductible donation via the Bulldogs profile on the Australian Sports Foundation website and purchase the latest winter gear from the Bulldogs Team Store.
