Sam gave the game away when he started high school, but returned following his move to Brisbane, where he played under 18s for the Aspley Devils before being picked up by the Norths Devils colts for the 2009 season.
The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs were very keen to sign the young front rower and invited to trial prior to the start of the 2010 season. The quietly spoken Kiwi made an immediate impact on his coaches, earning high praise for his footwork and endurance.
After missing the opening four matches of the season, Kasiano was called into action by Bulldogs coach Andy Patmore for the sides round five clash against the New Zealand Warriors. There he stayed for all but one of the Bulldogs remaining 22 matches for the year, missing only the round 18 clash against the Melbourne Storm with a shoulder complaint.
Giant prop Sam Kasiano was one of the revelations of Toyota Cup season 2010 at the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, starting the year as an almost-unknown while finishing it as one of the standouts of the entire competition.
One of the revelations of season 2011, Sam featured in 19 NRL matches on his way to being a very popular winner of the Bulldogs Rookie of the Year award. As softly spoken as he is physically impressive.
Standing at 196 centimetres and weighing in at over 120 kilograms, Kasiano is a damaging ball runner while also being formidable in defence. Deceptively mobile for such a big man.
Sam proved to be a huge part of the Bulldogs 2012 campaign appearing in 24 matches and helping the Bulldogs to a 2012 Minor Premiership and Grand Final appearance.
During an injury riddled 2013 season, Sam showed damaging form in the 13 games he played and earned himself a spot in the New Zealand World Cup Squad.
Sam will be back and rearing to go in 2014 as he looks to chase his first title with the Bulldogs.
