While attending St Paul's College, Kempsey in 2006, Tolman was selected to play for the Australian Schoolboys team and the Junior Kangaroos.
Tolman made his first-grade debut against the Canberra Raiders in round 6 of the 2008 season. In 2008 he was named the Melbourne Storm Rookie of the Year.
Tolman signed with the Bulldogs in 2010 on a three year contract which has seen him play 74 games with the club.
Aiden then re-signed with the team on a four year contract, which will see him at the club until the end of 2017.
Former Bulldogs CEO Todd Greenberg praised Tolman for his leadership skills and noted he would make a good captain in the future for the Bulldogs.
In 2012 and 2013, Tolman was selected to play in the Country Origin team. Aiden was rewarded for his efforts receiving the 2012 & 2013 Coaches Award.
