Born in Auckland, New Zealand, Eastwood played his junior football for the Manurewa Marlins in South Auckland before being signed by the Brisbane Broncos as a schoolboy.
In Round 26 of the 2005 NRL season, Eastwood made his NRL debut for the Broncos against the Parramatta Eels. The man they call the ‘Beast’ played 64 regular season matches for the Broncos with much success despite not being picked in the Broncos 2006 Grand Final win against the Melbourne Storm.
Eastwood signed with Leeds Rhinos of the Super League for the 2009 season, however his visa to play in the UK was denied, opening the door for Greg to sign with the Bulldogs on loan for the 2009 season.
Leeds successfully appealed the decision to deny his visa to play in the UK, and Eastwood joined the Rhinos for the 2010 Super League season.
Eastwood found it hard to settle in the UK and activated a “home-sickness” clause in his contract to re-join the Bulldogs in 2011.
Greg was a crucial part of the Bulldogs 2012 Minor Premiership and Grand Final appearance appearing in every match.
The Kiwi forward had some tough times throughout the 2013 season, with injuries and the loss of his Dad no doubt having an impact on his season.
Injuries came at the wrong time for Greg this year, with the broken hand coming towards the end of the year and the calf injury coming through the Origin period, which is when you need your key men most.
He is a great player and a very valuable member of the team and all though missing the ANZAC test due to the loss of his father, he has been rewarded with selection in the NZ World Cup squad.
A very dangerous player and one who can really change a game for you with his footwork, his defence and ability to find space between defenders.
A big pre-season can only help him in preparation for the 2014 season.
