Bulldogs winger Brett Morris has reflected on his rep career after announcing his retirement from representative football last weekend.
Morris, who played 15 games for NSW, took to Instagram to confirm his retirement.
The 30-year old made his debut for the Blues in 2010 and crossed the try-line on four occasions.
He bows out with the incredible strike rate of 23 tries in 18 Tests for Australia, after debuting in 2009, having also played a starring role in their 2013 World Cup success.
“It’s a decision that I had in my mind at the start of the year. With the injuries I have had, it takes a big toll on your body playing rep footy. I didn’t think I was going to play in this year’s Origin series, but to get the call up from Laurie, I am very grateful,” said Morris.
While the Blues haven’t had too much success across Morris’ rep career, the winger says being a part of the victorious 2014 series was a highlight.
“Being involved in the 2014 series where we won the shield stands out. Playing through injury during the first game of the series and winning in Queensland was one of the best feelings of my career,” he added.
With Origin done and dusted for another year, Morris will return to the Bulldogs line-up for their clash with the Brisbane Broncos at Suncorp Stadium on Thursday night.
