Halfback Moses Mbye believes consistency is the key for his side heading into this weekend’s clash with the Cronulla Sharks.
The Bulldogs sit outside the top eight on 10 competition points and following two consecutive losses, the number seven admits the team has been inconsistent this year as the rep. period approaches.
“I think we’ve been inconsistent which is the best word to describe it. We’ve showed some good patches of footy and we’ve also shown some poor patches. I think we’ve got some improvement to do, but there’s no better way to do it then on Saturday night against the Sharks down there at their home ground,” Mbye said.
Mbye believes the contest on Saturday night is the perfect platform for youngsters including Matt Frawley, Marcelo Montoya and Francis Tualau to step up and impress with key players out due to Origin.
“There is obviously some quality players who are out of our side, including three superstars there who will be a huge loss, but we’ve got good depth in this club and we’ve got some very able players to come in and fill the role of the boys who have departed for Origin duty,” Mbye added.
The Origin period is an important time for any club, but it’s also a time to build some momentum.
“We just need to string a few wins together and we will be right back up there in the thick of things. It’s a good opportunity to play against the Sharks and get a win down there this weekend. it’s a period where some younger blokes really stand up and jump out of their skin and really make a name for themselves. It’s exciting footy around this time of the year and we’re all looking forward to it,” said Mbye.
