The Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs were last weekend given the opportunity to host three-time Super Bowl champion, Ed McCaffery and current number three NFL draft pick Solomon Thomas, during the Bulldogs versus Roosters game at ANZ Stadium.

McCaffery who was a wide receiver in the NFL and was drafted by the New York Giants in the third round of the 1991 draft, started with Stanford University (Stanford Cardinal).

His career spanned 13 seasons with the Giants, the San Fransisco 49ers and the Denver Broncos.

He was a three-time Super Bowl champion (one with the 49ers and two with the Broncos), before retiring in 2004.

Solomon Thomas was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers with the third overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft after playing college football with Stanford University (Stanford Cardinal) for two years.

He is regarded as one of College’s top defensive linemen and off the back of his stellar 2016 season, Thomas received a multitude of All-American honours and won the Morris Trophy as the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year.

The 21-year was born in Chicago and when Thomas was two years old his family moved to Sydney. They stayed for about five years before returning to the USA.

Both men were in Sydney promoting the upcoming Sydney Cup and their week ended with a day out at a Bulldogs home game.

The 2017 College Football Sydney Cup will see College Football powerhouse, Stanford University (Stanford Cardinal) in which McCaffery and Thomas both attended, take on Rice University (Rice Owls) in what will be a hotly contested affair at Allianz Stadium on Sunday August 27.

It will mark the second time an NCAA College Football Championship match has been played in Sydney.
