The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs have today confirmed that they have been issued with a penalty notice of $61, 474 in relation to a breach of the salary cap from the 2016 season.

As reported in November, the Bulldogs identified the issue and immediately self-reported to the NRL. The NRL acknowledged that the Bulldogs had acted appropriately and recognised this by handing out a penalty of 75% of the cap breach amount.

The Bulldogs accept the penalty and have implemented strategies to address the cause of the breach.

“Once we identified the potential breach of the 2016 salary cap we reported the situation to the NRL straightaway,” Chief Executive Raelene Castle stated. “The Bulldogs respect the importance of the salary cap and we have now reviewed our salary cap processes to ensure compliance for the 2017 season and beyond.”
